For the second year in a row WAI – Westland Arts Inc, had a stand at Art in the Park at Shantytown on 1/2 March. Six members took up the opportunity to exhibit work for sale. Sue Asplin and I went up early on the Saturday morning to set it up. As I couldn’t drive due to the knee surgery, I was reliant on others for transport up and back over the two days. Sales were slow but in the end we were in the top 20 for sales. I had a selection of my harakeke work on sh0w and sold a palm.
It was a good opportunity for raising the profile of WAI and to network with other artists. I met Pete Howard from Westport who told me about his project to take a group exhibition of West Coast artists to the Christchurch Art show(Wave from the Coast) and then sent me information to distribute to WAI members with an invitation to apply to be involved. I did this and was selected. Read more about Wave from the Coast.
